Agostina Hein Racks Up 6th LCM Argentine Record With 4:06.25 400 Free

April has proven yet another period of record book demolition for Agostina Hein. After breaking three national records at the South American Youth Games this weekend, including two South American records back-to-back in the 800 free and 200 IM, Hein came back for more at Argentina’s junior championships.

At the meet, which is taking place in her hometown of Buenos Aires, Hein kicked things off with a 4:06.25 400 freestyle. This took down Delfina Pignatiello’s 4:06.61 Argentine record from 2019 and better her own pr from 4:06.96.

It seemed that it was only a matter of time until this record belonged to Hein. She already held the 200 freestyle and 800 freestyle national record, among three others, bringing her total of individual national LCM records to six. She notched all these records before her 18th birthday, which is tomorrow.

This record comes only a few days after the conclusion of the swimming portion of the South American Youth Games, which proved quite busy and successful for Hein. We already mentioned her three national records, but she earned a total of ten medals across the span of the games. Other highlights for the rising star included a 2:10.95 200 fly, which represented a gold medal and lifetime best, as well as clutch legs on the Albiceste’s gold-medal-winning women’s 400 free relay and mixed 400 free and medley relays.

Alongside Hein’s, another national record was downed at the hands of Lara Fernandez in the first day of competition in Buenos Aires. Fernandez registered a 27.09 in the 50 fly to shave four hundredths off Guadalupe Angiolini’s 27.13 mark from 2024.

Argentina’s record board is on watch for new marks for the rest of these junior championships as well as the senior national championships from May 6-9.
