Quick Hits From the Junior & B-Finals At 2026 Aquatics GB Championships

2026 AQUATICS GB SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Day one of the 2026 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships is underway, as swimmers are vying not only for slots on the British roster for this year’s European Championships but also for the chance to represent their Home Nations at this year’s Commonwealth Games.

At this competition in years past, we’ve seen the Junior Finals and B-Finals meshed in with the A-Finals during the nightly session. This time around, however, the Junior Finals and B-Finals are taking place much earlier, at 6pm local, whereas the A-Finals are slotted for 7:45pm local.

As such, we reviewed the earlier finals session and gleaned some results worth noting, with the main, medal-contesting events nearly upon us.

  • Jasmine Carter of Mt. Kelly reaped gold in the junior girls’ 50m breaststroke final, hitting 31.86. Although that was about half a second outside her lifetime best of 31.37 from last year, it was a time that would have won the B-final outright here tonight.
  • Stockport Metro’s Reece Grady took the top spot in the B-Final of the men’s 400m free, clocking a lifetime best of 3:49.99. That garnered him his first-ever time under the 3:50 barrier, erasing his former PB of 3:51.69 from last year. He now slips inside the list of the top 25 all-time British performers in the event.
  • Lucy Grieve, known more for her 100m fly prowess, clinched the win in the women’s B-Final of the 200m distance of the discipline. The Stirling ace touched in 2:11.74, clearing her competitors by well over 4 seconds. That sliced .04 off her previous PB of 2:11.78 from last year.
  • Finally, Leeds’ rising star Emma Wood threw down a knockout punch in the girls’ 100m freestyle, ripping a lifetime best of 54.92 to take the junior final. That scorched her heats outing of 55.74, a time which already lowered her previous PB of 55.78 from last year. She now ranks as the 20th-best British women’s 100m freestyler of all time. We’ll see where this time ultimately lands after this evening’s marquee final.
