Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Charlie Prince has announced his commitment to swim and study at Northern Michigan University, beginning next fall, becoming the first publicized commit in its class of 2030. He confirmed the news in an email to SwimSwam, writing:

I’m ecstatic to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic journey at Northern Michigan University! I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and community for all the support throughout my journey! I would also like to thank Coach Heidi and Coach Lance for this amazing opportunity. Go Wildcats!!

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 Breaststroke: 55.97
  • 200 Breaststroke: 2:04.28
  • 200 IM: 1:53.35

Prince hails from Port Washington, Wisconsin, where he attends Port Washington High School and trains year-round with Ozaukee Aquatics. He’s primarily a breaststroke specialist, strong in both the 100 and 200, and also competes in the 200 IM.

The future Wildcat has improved throughout each season of his high school career, most recently dropping from 58.69 to 55.97 in the 100 breast, 2:07.77 to 2:04.28 in the 200 breast, and 1:58.89 to 1:53.35 in the 200 IM over the past 18 months.

At the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) State Championship over his high school career, Prince has made the ‘A’ final in five of his six individual swims, with his best finish coming last year when he placed third in the 100 breast after finishing fourth in his first two seasons. He has also raced the 100 fly each year, improving from ninth to seventh to fourth. While it’s not his strongest event, he’s been as quick as 51.27 and shows a willingness to contribute where the team needs him.

NMU is a Division II school competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. At the 2025 GLIAC Championships, the Wildcats finished third out of eight teams. Prince’s breaststroke times would have placed 14th at the conference meet, while the cutoffs for a second swim were 49.55 in the 100 fly and 1:52.28 in the 200 IM.

On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Prince would have ranked third in the 100 breast, fourth in the 200 breast, eighth in the 200 IM, and 12th in the 100 fly. With the breaststrokers ahead of him being upperclassmen, Prince is poised to become the Wildcats’ go-to breaststroker in future seasons.
