A former Provincial-level swimmer in Canada was shot and killed last week week, with police investigating her ex-boyfriend for the crime.
23-year-old Madisson Cobb was found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds in the Haysboro community in Calgary, according to the City of Calgary. Police responded to reports of gunshots in a parking garage, where emergency services personnel located the victim. After administering lifesaving efforts, she was declared dead at the scene.
Her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Devon Malik, has been charged with first degree murder. Prosecutors say that he put a GPS tracking device on Cobb’s car after three judicial orders commanded him to stay away from Cobb. Court documents showed that Malik’s aunts and uncles had tried for months to get Malik to leave Cobb alone, and his aunts said that they were at Malik’s first court appearance on Wednesday to support Cobb and shed light on what happened in the weeks leading up to the shooting.
Cobb grew up in Calgary as a year round swimmer for the Okotoks Mavericks, Foothills Stingrays Swim Club, and High River Tigers Swim Club. Her last official meet came in 2019, and in 2018 she raced at the Southern Alberta Provincials meet.
At least one of her clubs posted a tribute to Cobb’s time with them from 2013-2016. The Okotoks Mavericks are also a youth club for Olympians Finlay Knox and Kirstie Kasko.

Most dangerous person in a woman’s life is the man that says he loves her. Tragic that no amount of asking for help could make her safe.
One violation should put them in jail
Wdym one violation? They’re not legally responsible for a 26 year old and they aren’t the police. What were they supposed to do, initiate an Aunt and Uncle sanctioned arrest?
Just a guess — “them” = Malik in this case
Malik, the ex, not the relatives
Very tragic. BTW her name was Madisson Cobb (not Club)
Horrible, tragic loss. She was beautiful. My deepest Condolences to her family.♡ I hope that true justice will prevail. No words.
Holy god dude
If you’re a male and you can’t accept a no from a girl for an answer you are pathetic on the most tremendous of scales
Shame on this tone-deaf loser he deserves life w/o parole
When it comes to travel for our national teams, why no have them travel after the meet? Makes more sense. Train in the U S, swim the meet, and travel afterwards, when most swimmers just want to chill.
Why are you making that comment on this article?
I think it must be a mistake.
I assume this was meant for a food poisoning article.
