Raleigh, North Carolina’s Chloe Mikles has made a verbal commitment* to join the Cornell University Class of 2020. Mikles has been swimming for Marlins of Raleigh for the past seven years and is a senior at Ravenscroft School.

“I absolutely fell in love with Cornell- the school, the team, the coaches, and everything about it. I am so grateful to have this opportunity and contribute to the Big Red for the next four years!”

Mikles is mainly a sprint and middle-distance freestyler. She has helped lead Ravenswood to three consecutive North Carolina Independent Schools State 3A Championship titles. She has won the individual 50 and 100 freestyle events in each of the past three years, and been a member of Ravenscroft’s winning 200 and 400 free relays. Her top times include:

  • 50 free – 24.11
  • 100 free – 51.47
  • 200 free – 1:52.25
  • 500 free – 5:09.67
  • 100 fly – 58.95

Mikles will join Patrick Gallagher’s newly-separated women’s program in the fall of 2016. Cornell has made huge improvements over the last several years, and they have a strong sprint group base. Mikles will arrive as current seniors Jenna Immormino and Chandra Yueh are graduating, leaving Cari Stankaitis to lead the way.

*DISCLAIMER: Mikles has not yet been officially accepted to Cornell. As is true with all Ivy League schools, Cornell’s Admission Office will not send its acceptance letter until the beginning of December, along with those of all Early Action candidates. The procedure for a recruited athlete like Mikles is for Admissions to review her transcript and SAT scores, “support (her) application for admissions in the fall,” issue a Likely Letter, then offer her acceptance into the class of 2020.
