Vyatchanin Injures Foot; U.S. Winter Nats Questionable

A familiar name on the Grand Prix circuit was missing from the blocks in Minneapolis this past weekend. Arkady Vyatchanin was notably absent from the first Grand Prix of the season due to a sprained tendon in his foot.

According to the 6’6″ NYAC swimmer, the tendon was sprained about ten days ago doing underwater work at practice; his foot actually hit the bottom of the pool causing the injury.

Vyatchanin is being told the sprain may take several weeks to heal.  At present, he is undergoing physical therapy, but indicates his participation at December’s Winter Nationals is questionable.
