Turkey’s Cansu Canki Commits to Houston for 2025-26

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Cansu Canki from Istanbul, Turkey, has signed to swim at the University of Houston beginning in the fall of 2025. In April, she wrote on social media:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Houston! Huge thanks to my family, my friends and my coaches for their endless support along the way. I also want to thank Coach Allan and Coach Tanica for this incredible opportunity and support. I cant wait to be a part of such an amazing team! So excited for this new chapter to begin. GO COOGS!!!❤️🤍”

Canki swims for the club team Fenerbahçe Sports Club. She specializes in IM and breaststroke. At the 2025 Turkey Inter-Club Long-Course Youth and Open Summer Swimming Championship last weekend, she placed 11th in the 200 IM (2:24.14), 12th in the 200 breast (2:44.50), 17th in the 50 free (27.00), and 17th in the 100 free (57.88). The 200 IM was a lifetime best. Her fastest 100/200 breast times (1:18.33/2:39.69) date from the 2021 long course season but she swam within .3 of her top 100 breast performance last year at the International Turkcell Youth Junior and Open, going 1:18.64.

In addition to breast and IM, Canki competes in free and back. Most recently, she swam the 50/100 free and 50/100 back at the Turkish National Team Selection Meet. In April, she competed in the 50/100 free and 50 back at the Turkish Junior National Team Selection Meet. There, she placed 7th in the 50 free (27.29), 14th in the 100 free (59.69), and 11th in the 50 back (PB of 30.55).

Canki will join the Cougars in the fall with Aneshka Frickleton, Asli Bozer, Emma Overall, Helen Randolph, Isabella Tramontana, Izzy Wilson, Megan Jones, and Rylee Simoneaux.

Best LCM times:

  • 50 free – 26.96 (23.56)
