Michael Houlie is a competitive swimmer who represents South Africa internationally. On January 29, 2018, he announced his verbal intent to swim at Tennessee. College (Tennessee) 2018-19 At the NCAA Championships, Houlie finished 23rd in the 100 breast (52.64) and was a member of Tennessee's sixth place 200 medley relay and 16th place 400 medley relay teams. At the SEC Championships, Houlie was seventh in the 100 breast (52.64), 23rd in the 200 breast (1:58.56) and 53rd in the 50 free (24.14). He was a part of the Vols' runnerup 200 medley relay and fifth place 400 medley relay. National/International Competition 2018 Youth Olympic Games (Buenos Aires, Argentina) Houlie set the 50 breast and 100 breast records at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2018. He was the 50 breast champion, clocking a 27.51. In the 100 breast, Houlie swam a 1:00.23 in the semifinals, before finishing fifth in the finals (1:01.70).
