Diletta Carli Born May 7, 1996 Diletta Carli is an Italian swimmer that has represented Italy at numerous competitions including the European Championships and World Youth Championships. Carli is most known for her results as a junior/youth swimmer – as only a teenager, but she’s broken into the world rankings and has made her first Olympic Team. Carli breaks Italian Youth Record Carli experienced her breakout season in 2010, when she made her first international apperarance – she broke the Italian Youth Record in both the 200m freestyle and the 400m freestyle. Senior breakout Her first major medal was won at the 2012 European Championships, where she won gold as a member of the 800m freestyle relay. Later in the year she swam at the European Junior Championships, where she won gold in the 400m freestyle and broke the meet record in the event. 2012 London Olympics After winning numerous gold medals across the junior scene, Diletta was selected for the 2012 London Olympics – she competed on the 800m freestyle relay that featured both seasoned Olympians and newcomers like herself.
