Alex Kirsling, 12, Nitro Swimming (ST): Kirsling was on fire at the COR Classic last weekend in Garland, Tex., setting eight best times and winning seven individual events in the boys’ 11-12 age group. Kirsling clocked 1:46.37 in the 200 free, cracking the top 10 all-time in the boys’ 11-12 age group in 10th. He also moved to 11th in the 500 free (4:47.06), 18th in the 100 fly (53.69), 29th in the 100 back (54.68), 32nd in the 100 free (49.44), 80th in the 200 IM (2:02.54) and 86th in the 100 IM (56.99). This season, he ranks 1st in the age group in both the 200 and 500 free, 3rd in the 100 IM and 200 IM, and 4th in the 100 free.
Olivia Posegay, 8, Nitro Swimming (ST): Also racing at the COR Classic, Posegay set best times in everything she raced, swimming eight events over the four-day meet. Posegay showed off her freestyle ability, clocking 6:16.46 in the 500 free to rank 3rd this season among 8-year-old girls, while she also sits 3rd in the 100 free (1:05.46), 6th in the 50 free (30.56) and 200 free (2:26.62). She also set bests in the 50 back (34.43), 100 back (1:16.32), 50 fly (32.31) and 100 fly (1:16.43).
Duncan Carr, 14, Lanier Aquatics (GA): Carr set best times across the board at last weekend’s Georgia Senior State Championships, earning ‘A’ final appearances in all three breaststroke events as a 14-year-old. Carr shattered his best time in the prelims of the 100 breast, going down from 59.10 to 57.27, and then matched that time in the final, moving him into a tie for 80th all-time in the boys’ 13-14 age group and 5th this season. In the 200 breast, he dropped four seconds to clock 2:05.10, good for 4th in the country this season, while his time of 26.29 in the 50 breast knocked more than a second off his PB and shoots him up to #1 this season among 13-14 boys. He also set bests in the 100 IM (54.53) and 200 IM (2:01.74).
Dossey Robinson, 12, Lakeside Swim Team (KY): Robinson established five best times at the Timedrop Music City Invitational last weekend in Nashville, with her best showing coming in the butterfly events. In the 50 fly, Robinson improved her best time of 26.99 from October to 26.95, moving her into a tie for 14th this season in the girls’ 11-12 age group, while in the 100 fly, she took a giant leap forward, dropping from 1:00.47 to 57.72. That swim moves her up to 4th this season in the 11-12 age group. The Lakeside Swim Team product also set bests in the 50 free (25.21), 100 free (55.61) and 50 back (29.02).
Louisa Petcu, 14, SwimMAC Carolina (NC): Petcu won five events and set six personal best times at the ATOM Winter Invite last weekend in Charlotte, N.C. The SwimMAC Carolina product had her best swim come in the 100 fly, where she clocked 54.84 to rank 4th this season in the girls’ 13-14 age group. She also cracked the top 10 in the seasonal age group rankings in the 50 free, going 23.60 for 10th, and added bests in the 100 free (52.04), 200 free (1:56.03), 100 breast (1:06.43) and 200 breast (2:24.08).
