Louisville senior swimmers Julia Dennis and Charlie Crush announced their engagement in a collaborative Instagram post on March 30.
The post, captioned by Dennis, reads: “Crushed so hard I’m turning into one!!😉🤍I love you, Charlie!! Let’s get married!!”
Both Crush and Dennis recently wrapped up their time with the Cardinals, both spending all four years of eligibility with Louisville.
Dennis, an Oxford, Miss. native, recently wrapped up her collegiate career at the 2026 women’s NCAA Championships, where she raced in a pair of ‘A’ finals, touching 5th overall in the 50 free (21.15) and 8th in the 100 free (47.02). She also anchored the 2nd-place 200 medley relay in 20.71 for the Cardinals.
In 2025, Dennis was in the top 8 in both the 50 free and 100 free, finishing 3rd in the 50 (21.20) and 8th in the 100 free (47.41). She qualified for finals in the 50 free at the NCAA Championships in each of her four seasons with the Cardinals, including ‘A’ finals appearances in the last three seasons.
She was also named to her first USA Swimming National Team in September, having represented the US on the international stage at the World University Games.
Crush, a Louisville native, also put the finishing touches on his career at the NCAA Championships, where he was on a pair of relays for the Cardinals, splitting 18.76 on the 8th-place finishing 200 free relay. He also led off the 200 medley relay for the Cardinals in 20.81, a lifetime-best effort that helped the team to an 8th-place finish.
He has been a relay swimmer for the Cardinals at each of the last three editions of the NCAA Championships, with 2026 marking his first two-relay showing at that meet in his career.

I was waiting for this article to mention the Crush Mississippi roots!
So happy for them – congratulations!
Why didn’t this begin with “I’m extremely excited to announcement my commitment to (insert future spouse’s name), and I want to thank my family, coaches, and all those in my orbit who helped me along the way!”?
I think this couple probably ranks extremely high in the combined 50 free times with the lowest total. Congratulations! May you have many happy laps together!
Weitzel/Jensen have to be ranked near the top also
Surely this is some sort of recruiting violation, making them date and get engaged so they don’t get into the transfer portal. This needs to be investigated, NOW
Congratulations to them both!
Best of luck to a long, happy marriage.
