Freestyle & Butterfly Specialist Alex Kaczmark Commits To Towson University For Fall 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Alex Kaczmark has announced his commitment to continue both his education and swimming career at Towson University, where he will join the team in the fall of 2026. Kaczmark is from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, where he attends Chambersburg Area High School and trains year-round with the Chambersburg Memorial YMCA.

Kaczmark confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, and provided the following quote:

I’m ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Towson University! I would like to thank my family for every ounce of support they have given me. I would also like to thank all of my coaches and teammates along the way. Thank you to Coach Tony and Coach Bosse for this amazing opportunity! GO TIGERS!

The future Tiger’s target meets of the last high school season were the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District 3-3A meet and the WIAA 3A State Championships, both held two weeks apart in early March.

At Districts, Kaczmark collected three silver medals, two of which came in his individual events: the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle. In the 100 fly, he stopped the clock at 50.26, while he logged 1:40.45 in the 200 free. He also contributed to two relay events, leading off both the 200 and 400 free relays. He split a lifetime best time of 46.81 on the silver medal-winning 400 free relay and notched a season best of 21.79 on the 200 free relay that captured fourth.

The 17-year-old continued the momentum into State, where he earned a pair of 10th place finishes: a personal-best 50.06 in the 100 fly and 1:40.42 in the 200 free. In the relays, he led off the 200 free relay that finished 20th with a 21.40 split, while he hit 46.39 on the fifth-place 400 free relay.

Kaczmark wrapped up his short course season with his club team at the beginning of April at the YMCA State Championships. He broke the 50-second barrier in the 100 fly for the first time, touching 25th overall. He secured 14th in the 200 fly (1:51.35), 19th in the 500 free with a personal best of 4:35.62, and 14th in the 200 free (1:40.57). He was a key contributor on several relays: he led off the 200 free relay in 21.68, helping the team to a 21st finish; split 47.78 on the 400 free relay, which came in 23rd; swam the fly leg in 22.43 on the medley relay that took 15th; and posted a 51.16 fly split on the medley relay that hit the wall 24th.

Towson University is a public university located in Maryland, with an enrollment of approximately 22,000 students. The program is currently under the direction of head coach Anthony Bruno, who took the reins in June of 2022. The women finished fifth out of nine teams at the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Championships.

Kaczmark will be a valuable addition to Towson’s roster in both the free and fly events. His lifetime best in the 200 fly would have ranked fourth on the team’s depth chart for the 2024–25 season, while his top times in the 100 fly and 500 free would have placed him fifth. In the freestyle events, his best times would have ranked 11th in the 50, ninth in the 100, and seventh in the 200.

At the 2025 CAA Championships, Kaczmark’s best times in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 free, and 500 free put him within striking distance of making the ‘B’ finals. It took times of 49.25, 1:50.19, 1:39.06, and 4:30.65, respectively, to make the top 16 and score.

Kaczmark joins Jacob Hershberg as the only publicized commits in the Towson men’s recruiting class of 2026.
