2026 FRENCH ELITE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The French Swimming Federation has named 27 athletes* to their roster for the 2026 European Championships on home soil this summer.

*L’Equipe reported 27 athletes were named to the roster, but the list published on its website only includes 26 names. Comments on the article indicate Nans Mazellier was chosen and was not listed by L’Equipe in the article. That would bring the total to 16 men and 11 women.

Headlining the roster on the men’s side is world record holder Leon Marchand, who withdrew from the French Championships due to a groin injury. This will be his first European Championships after he elected not to attend the 2022 meet to focus on his upcoming NCAA season.

Also on the men’s roster is Maxime Grousset, who earned a roster spot through an exemption from the qualification procedure after he withdrew from the meet due to a foot fracture. A healthy Grousset would be one of the favorites in both the 50 and 100 butterfly in Paris.

On the women’s side, newly minted French record holder Mary-Ambre Moluh leads the way after she broke the French record in both the 50 and 100 backstroke during the meet. She currently holds the fastest time in the 100 backstroke among Europeans and the 2nd fastest time in the 50 backstroke behind Italy’s Sara Curtis.
