Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Eva Whitehead of Lake Butler, Florida, has committed to swim and study at the University of Alabama, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. She trains year-round with Gator Swim Club and attends Union County High School.

Whitehead, a breaststroke and IM specialist, confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, and provided the following quote:

After much prayer, I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Alabama. A huge thank you to my family, friends, teammates and coaches for making this possible. Another thank you to the coaching staff at Bama. I can’t wait to be apart of such an amazing group of girls!!

Outside of the pool, Whitehead is actively involved in both her church and school communities. She has served as the Vice President of her high school class for the past two years, maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA, and is currently dual enrolled through Florida Gateway College. She will become the first collegiate athlete in her family.

Whitehead has been the captain of her high school swim team for the last three seasons and played a key role in kickstarting the program.

Her two target meets of the 2024–25 high school season were the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Region Championships and the State Meet, held just under two weeks apart in November. She won the 200 IM at both meets, clocking career bests of 2:01.45 at Regions and 2:00.01 at State. In the 100 breaststroke, she placed fourth at both competitions, improving her time from 1:03.93 at Regions to 1:03.25 at State to close out her high school season.

In December, Whitehead reunited with her club team to compete at the Winter Junior Championships in Greensboro, where she raced in both breast and IM events. Her highest finish came in the 400 IM, where she secured 40th with a time of 4:25.91. She also captured 41st in the 200 breast (2:18.06), 54th in the 100 breast (1:03.86), and 69th in the 200 IM (2:04.65), with her swim in the 200 breast marking her only personal best of the meet.

She wrapped up her season at the Florida Senior State Championships in March, where she swam six individual events. Whitehead placed fifth in the 200 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM—posting lifetime bests in all three. She dropped nearly two seconds in the 200 breast (2:16.25) and had a similar time cut in the 400 IM (4:22.46). In the 200 IM, she went 2:02.90, slightly off her season-best 2:00.01 from November.

Beyond those top events, she touched 11th in the 100 breast (1:03.97), 26th in the 100 back (58.78), and 12th in the 200 back, where she set a new personal record of 2:03.93.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 Breaststroke: 1:03.25
  • 200 Breaststroke: 2:16.25
  • 200 IM: 2:00.01
  • 400 IM: 4:22.46

The Alabama women, led by head coach Margo Geer, finished sixth at the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships before placing 15th at the NCAA Championships about a month later.

At last season’s SEC Championships, where ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals are scored, it took times of 1:59.04 and 4:14.85 in the IMs and 1:01.00 and 2:12.89 in the breaststrokes to make the top 24.

Based on her current times, Sala would have ranked third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 400 IM, fifth in the 200 breast, and seventh in the 200 breast on the team’s 2024-25 depth chart.

Whitehead joins Addison Sala, Ella Justice, Alyse Block, Ava Grazziani, Georgia Wimberly, and Emma Bronson in the Crimson Tide’s class of 2030.
