Born in Rockledge, Florida, Taylor moved to Rochester, Minnesota, when she was 5 and later developed a love for the water a young age which included not only swimming, but spending time on lakes with her family. She also loves to spend time with puppies and hang out with close friends.
As a graduate from John Marshal Senior High School, Taylor competed in the Minnesota State High School swimming championships for two years. Her senior year, she placed 5th in the 100 free with a time of 51.52 and 9th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.09.
At the NSISC Conference Championships, Taylor broke the Minnesota State University, Mankato, 200 back school record, lowering it to a 2:03.13. She also placed 5th overall in the 400 IM with a personal best. Bass was also a part of the school record breaking relay and the 400 free relay at the NSISC Conference Meet.
