Max continued to see drops across the board in his sophomore year with the titans. At the PAC championship meet he posted best times in all of his individual events taking 9th place in both the 50 and 100 free and 13th in the 100 back. Max was also a member of the first place 400 freestyle and 200 medely relays which earned him All-Conference first team honors.

In his junior year max saw varied success. At the PAC championship meet he posted a best time in the 50 free taking seventh in his first individual top 8 appearance. He also had top 16 performances in the 100 free and backstroke events taking 16th in both.
