Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Addison Sala of Reno, Nevada, has committed to swim and study at the University of Alabama, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. She trains year-round with Lakeridge Swim Team and attends Reno High School.

Sala, a backstroke and IM specialist, confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, and provided the following quote:

I’m thrilled to announce my commitment to swim and study at the University of Alabama!! I’d like to thank my family and coaches for supporting me throughout this journey. This little girls dream has come true. On to the next chapter! Roll Tide Roll!

The 17-year-old’s two biggest meets of this past high school season were the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) 3A/5A Region Championship and the 3A State meet.

At Regions, she dominated with three gold medals and one silver. She captured the 200 IM title with a personal-best 2:03.09, posted a lifetime-best 55.31 in the 100 backstroke, and notched a career-best leadoff split of 26.59 on the winning 200 medley relay. Her sole runner-up outing came in the 400 freestyle relay, where she contributed a 52.09 split to secure her team’s runner-up position.

At the State meet eight days later, she shaved three hundredths off her regional PB to claim the 200 IM crown in 2:03.06, then went on to win the 100 back in 56.01. She also led off the fifth-place medley relay with another personal-best split of 26.40 and opened the 400 free relay (53.35), which took seventh.

While she focused on backstroke and IM races this past high school season, she also holds strong best times in the 200 back (1:59.68), 200 free (1:50.73), and 400 IM (4:18.80).

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 Backstroke: 55.31 (55.21 altitude adjusted)
  • 200 Backstroke: 1:59.68
  • 200 Freestyle: 1:50.73
  • 200 IM: 2:03.06 (2:01.86 altitude adjusted)
  • 400 IM: 4:18.80

The Alabama women, led by head coach Margo Geer, finished sixth at the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships before placing 15th at the NCAA Championships about a month later.

At last season’s SEC Championships, where ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals are scored, it took times of 1:59.04 and 4:14.85 in the IMs, 53.11 and 1:55.25 in the backstrokes, and 1:46.68 in the 200 free to make the top 24.

Based on her current times, Sala would have ranked third in the 400 IM, fifth in the 200 IM, fifth in the 100 back, seventh in the 200 back, and 10th in the 200 free on the team’s 2024-25 depth chart.

Sala joins Eva Whitehead, Ella Justice, Alyse Block, Ava Grazziani, Georgia Wimberly, and Emma Bronson in the Crimson Tide’s class of 2030.
