2026 PRO SWIM SERIES – AUSTIN

Josh Matheny was the biggest, albeit expected name, to be missing from the start lists from the final heats session at the Pro Swim Series in Austin today. The Indiana swimmer had scratched out of the 100 breast and 50 breast already, and makes it a triple after dropping the #2 spot in the 200 breast.

The only other top-ten seeds to skip an event today also came in the 200 breast on the women’s side. Claire Burns and Karo Trinquesse, the #5 and #9 seeds respectively, will not be in attendance.

Jack Dahlgren has dropped the 100 free, where he was the #17 seed,in favor of the 200 fly, where he is the #3 seed in 1:55.18. He is the reigning World University Games champion in the latter, and will battle Carson Foster and Gabriel Jett for the event win.

Perhaps bigger news than those who have dropped events is those who are still entered. Shaine Casas, who no-showed the 200 IM and 100 fly, but then swam the 50 back and 200 free yesterday, is entered in the 100 free where he is the #6 seed in 47.92. He had have a rough 200 free yesterday, closing in 31-point to go 1:53.34, but is the top seed for the 50 back final in 25.01.

Regan Smith also remains as the #1 seed in the 200 fly, setting her up for the 50 back/200 fly double this evening that she has raced at the last three world championships she has attended. She has already won the 100 back and 100 fly here in Austin.
