We’ve wrapped up yet another exciting session of the 2026 NCAA Championships, and while there were numerous outstanding races, SwimSwam has compiled a (non exclusive) list of swims that may have gone unnoticed but are worthy of their own spotlight.
Felicia Klintemar, a sophomore out of the University of Akron, finished 9th in the 100 fly and missed out on a finals berth by just 2 tenths. She took her PB of 51.35, which was set to win the Mid American Championships, down to 50.89. SwimSwam’s Sam Blacker noted that this will be the fifth time in six seasons an Akron woman is the top mid-major swimmer across the season in the 100 fly, an accomplishment spread out across four different swimmers.
Due to the removal of B-finals, several swimmers were only subjected to ‘dirty doubles’ in the morning. Stanford’s Gigi Johnson took 14th in the 200 free while Texas’ Campbell Stoll placed 12th in the 400 IM, with both swims done after qualifying for the championship final in the 100 fly. Johnson went on to take 4th overall in the 100 fly while Stoll was 7th.
After two years of bad luck, Camille Spink showed what she was capable of in the 200 free. The junior out of Tennessee false started her freshman year and was on the outside looking in her sophomore year, but placed 6th tonight with a time of 1:41.72— just a hundredth off of her PB.
Another standout swimmer in the 200 free was USC’s Nicole Maier, who placed 10th overall. A graduate student transfer out of Miami (OH), Maier last competed this event in a championship setting at the Mid American Championships in 2024 when she led off the RedHawk’s title-winning 800 free relay in 1:43.90. After not competing last season, Maier dropped that best down to a 1:43.19 at Big Tens then dipped under the 1:43 barrier for the first time this morning with a 1:42.87 swim.
UNC’s Mary Macaulay shaved over 2 seconds from her best time of 4:08.08 in the 400 IM to take 15th in a time of 4:05.61. Her swim puts the Tar Heels on the board for the first time this meet, and the junior has now dropped 5 seconds in this event this season alone.

Also no one is mentioning Chloe Braun of UCSD who got 16th in 100 breast. Impressive since just a few years ago UCSD was D2.
The University of Akron, not Akron University
We could have watched the Akron swimmer again, if there were….wait for it… B FINALS
We did not miss Akron’s Felicia Klintemar 50.89 100 Fly. She is our martyr in the crusade to bring back B finals!
