Day 2 Prelims Heat Sheet

It was a relatively quiet day on the scratch front with just six swimmers dropping an event this morning, with all of them seeded outside of the presumptive scoring range. The highest seed to drop was Kim Emely Herkle. A fifth year from Louisville, Herkle was the 29th seed in the 400 IM thanks to her PB of 4:07.64, a time earned by placing 11th in the event at ACC Champs. Joining her dropping the event is OSU’s Emma Finlin.

A sophomore who represents Canada internationally, Finlin finished 8th in the final heat of the mile and 9th overall, stopping the clock at 15:55.22, after having entered the meet with her PB time of 15:49.51. She was the 44th seed in this morning’s 400 IM thanks to her 4:11.63 from November’s Ohio State Invitational.

Also scratching today is ASU’s Albane Cachot. The Frenchwoman, who is wrapping up her first year with the Sun Devils, took on both the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay yesterday morning. She is likely scratching the individual 200 free this morning to remain eligible for the remainder of ASU’s relays, where her 21.80 and 47.42 flat start 50/100 frees are more valuable than her 37th seed in the 200 free.
