Louisville Adds “BOTR” Distance Freestyler Maddy Brennan for 2027-28

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Maddy Brennan from Robbinsville, New Jersey, has made a verbal pledge to the University of Louisville’s class of 2031. She confirmed to SwimSwam:

“I am so incredibly excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my athletic and academic career at the University of Louisville! I would first like to thank Coach Arthur and the whole coaching staff and team at Louisville for welcoming me and giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank my family and friends who have supported me through every step of this process. And lastly, I want to thank my coaches and teammates at Peddie for pushing me and helping me to better myself every day. I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I cannot wait to see where the lord leads me. GO CARDS!!!❤️🖤”

Brennan is a junior at Robbinsville High School. She swims year-round with Peddie Aquatic Association, specializing in distance free, and was one of our “Best of the Rest” recruits on the Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers in the high school class of 2027.

As a sophomore at the 2025 New Jersey Meet of Champions, Brennan was runner-up in the 500 free (4:55.22) and 4th in the 200 free (1:50.09). She notched PBs in both events in prelims, going 4:54.02    and 1:49.01, respectively. She competed later that month at Ithaca Sectionals and lowered her 500 time to 4:52.70 with a 3rd-place finish. She also clocked lifetime bests in the 1000 free (10:00.87 for 3rd place) and 1650 free (16:33.45 for 1st place), and in the 1000 free (51.94) while leading off Peddie’s 400 free relay.

Brennan kicked off 2025 long-course season at U.S. Nationals, where she hit a new PB in the 1500 free (17:17.72), dropping over 8 seconds.

While Louisville might be better known for their sprinters (e.g., Julia Dennis, Gabi Albiero, and Caroline Larsen were all ‘A’ finalists in the 50 free at ACCs last season), Leticia Fassina Romao was an NCAA qualifier in the 500/1650 as a freshman last season and has already eclipsed her best time in the mile this season (15:57.78 at Ohio State Invite last month). She will be a senior when Brennan arrives.

Also committed to the Cardinals’ class of 2031 are swimmers Aria Grossenbach, Logan Havermann, Adelyn Espy, and Lucy Parson, and divers Sarah Griffith (#4 in the class), Afton Ruf, and Riley Steinhilber.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 free – 1:49.01
  • 500 free – 4:52.70
  • 1000 free – 10:00.87
  • 1650 free – 16:33.45
