A former swim instructor from Kernersville, N.C., has pleaded guilty for multiple charges related to child pornography.
Ryan Anthony Haskins, 27, was found guilty of nine counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor on Wednesday after initially being charged on Feb. 4, 2025.
Haskins was sentenced to 18 months (a year and a half) to 84 months (seven years) in prison. He also has to register as a sex offender and participate in counseling and treating or an educational program as directed by his probation officer, according to FOX 8WGHP Greensboro.
Haskins previously worked as an instructor with Infant Swimming Resource, a program that teaches self-rescue swimming skills to infants and young children.
According to warrants, Haskins “feloniously did photograph, record material containing visual representation(s)” of young girls between the ages of eight and 14 performing sexual acts.
Members of the Invictus Task Force, a multi-county agency based in Asheboro, N.C., began investigating the case in January 2025, when they received a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
After being identified as a suspect, Haskins was taken into custody on Feb. 4 and charged with nine counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and transported to Forsyth County Detention Center.
“Second (degree charge) is the pure possession, so it’s in their possession, whether that be on the direct device … Old school way would be printouts or on a cloud service that they are in charge of,” said Investigator with Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the ITF, Lucas Manning.
Founder of The ITF, Ray Dawson, said: “That child’s images or videos of them engaged in a sexual act is being exploited by the offender for sexual gratification.
“That’s what these charges are. We deal in the trading and solicitation of pictures and images … A lot of times we hear, … ‘They’re just pictures,’ but what are they pictures of? And they’re depicting someone’s child … being sexually abused.”
