Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
The top breaststroke recruit in the high school class of 2026, Drew Eubanks, has committed to swim and study at the University of Tennessee. Eubanks holds the top times in both the 100 and 200 breast for his class, and was recently ranked as SwimSwam’s #11 in the most recent ranking of the top 20 recruits in the boys’ high school class of 2026.
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee!! I want to thank my family and friends for their support and sacrifice for me to accomplish this dream. A big thank you to Nacim and everyone on TDPS for pushing me to reach this point. A special shout out to the Tennessee coaching staff for trusting me to be a part of the Tennessee swim family. I’m grateful to be able to call Rocky Top my new home!! GO VOLS!! 🍊🍊🍊”
Eubanks recently represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships earlier this month. He finished 14th in the 100 breast (1:01.57) and 11th in the 200 breast (2:15.09). Back in June, Eubanks set lifetime bests in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, swimming to a 9th-place finish in the 100 (1:00.79) and 10th in the 200 breast (2:12.85).
In February, the Happy Valley, Oregon native took home the Oregon High School 6A State title in the 100 breast, clocking 52.98, the fastest time he has ever recorded in the event. Additionally, he finished runner-up in the 200 IM in 1:50.43, just three hundredths off of his best of 1:50.40.
Eubanks also took home a pair of wins at the Speedo Sectionals in Oceanside in both the 100 (53.31) and 200 (1:54.82, a lifetime best) breaststroke.
He swims year-round with The Dolphins Portland Swimming.
Best Times SCY:
- 100 Breast: 52.98
- 200 Breast: 1:54.82
- 200 IM: 1:50.40
The Tennessee men finished 3rd at the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships. Eubanks will come into Knoxville with times that would have brought points to Tennessee’s program. His best times would have made the consolation final in the 200 breast and the ‘C’ final in the 100 breast.
Eubanks makes an immediate impact for Tennessee in the breaststroke department, but will need to solidify a third event to grow his value past just the breaststrokes.
Last season at SECs, Tennessee only scored 13 points in the 100 breast (4th fewest of all teams). Kevin Houseman was the top finisher for the Volunteers in 17th, while Jed Garner finished 21st.
The 200 had a bit of a better showing. Producing 25 points, with Garner bringing home all 25 points himself with a 5th place finish. Garner is the only breaststroke scorer returning to Tennessee this season and will be a senior when Eubanks joins the program.
With another year of high school swimming and a full freshman campaign still to come, Eubanks could become a mainstay for the Volunteers at future NCAAs.
Eubanks joins the current 2026 recruiting class for Tennessee, which includes Kauã Pereira, Whitaker Steward, and Miles Blackson-Dunbar.
The current class has a useful mix of sprint freestyle depth in the form of Blackson-Dunbar and Pereira, as well as a distance element with Steward. Blackson-Dunbar also brings a touch of sprint backstroke speed to the table, while Eubanks is the clear breaststroke headliner for this class. Tennessee is only graduating four members of its men’s team after this season, with two of those being swimmers.
