The MIT women ended Day Two of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships with a division record in the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.00). They picked up right where they left off tonight as Kate Augustyn, Sarah Bernard, Annika Naveenand Ella Roberson swam 1:39.51 in the 200 medley relay, undercutting the Division III record Emory swam two years ago by four-hundredths.

Augustyn, Naveen, and Roberson were part of MIT’s winning 200 medley relay last year, delivering the Engineers their first NCAA relay title in program history. All three were faster than they were last year, when they won with a 1:39.67.

The MIT women are now three-for-three in the relays this week.

Split Comparison:

MIT 2025 Emory 2023
New Record Old Record
Back Kate Augustyn – 25.15 Megan Jungers – 25.38
Breast Sarah Bernard – 28.46 Anna Glowniak – 28.25
Fly Annika Naveen – 23.88 Taylor Leone – 23.69
Free Ella Roberson – 22.02 Caroline Maki – 22.23
1:39.51 1:39.55

Augustyn gave the Engineers the lead in the championship final with a 25.15 backstroke leg. The Kenyon women took over at the halfway point as 100 breaststroke DIII record holder Jennah Fadely ripped a 26.93 50 breaststroke split. The Engineers battled back on the butterfly leg, with Naveen splitting 23.88 to give MIT a nine-hundredth margin over the Owls with 50 yards to go. Finally, Roberson anchored in 22.02, extending MIT’s lead over the field.

The quartet stopped the clock at 1:39.51, shaving four-hundredths off the DIII record and winning by .75 seconds over Kenyon.

MIT’s relay wins have boosted them to second in the team standings after two days and helped them remain in touch with the leading NYU squad. MIT’s fifth-place finish last season was a program best and they are looking to use Day Three to make up some ground on the Violets.
