Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Versatile swimmer Gideon Swan has decided to remain in-state and swim for Texas A&M University beginning in the fall of 2026. He currently attends Logos Preparatory Academy and trains with the First Colony Swim Team.
“I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University. I want to thank my family, Coach Gilbert, and Coach Ben for all the support they have given me. I also want to thank Coach Blaire and the entire A&M staff for giving me this opportunity! Gig ‘Em 👍🏼”
One of Swan’s strongest events is the 500 free. He was recently crowned the 2025 TAPPS Division 2 State Champion (SCY) in both the 500 free (4:32.51) and 200 free (1:41.16). His 500 free time set a new TAPPS Division 2 state record. The previous year, he helped break the Division 3 state record in the 200 medley relay (1:39.57). TAPPS stands for the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.
More recently, Swan had strong performances at the 2024 Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West (SCY) in December. He set a lifetime best in the 500 free with a time of 4:21.51 during prelims. That time qualifies him to compete at the 2025 Futures Championship in Justin. In the finals, he placed 8th overall with a time of 4:24.44.
At the championship, Swan also achieved personal bests and qualified for the Futures Championship in the prelims of the 200 free (1:38.74), 200 fly (1:49.02), and 400 IM (3:51.87). He finished 12th in the 400 IM (3:52.38) in the finals.
The year prior, at the 2023 NT KMSC King Marlin Pro-Am Classic (SCY), Swan swam his fastest 200 IM time of 1:51.39 during prelims. In the finals, he placed 6th with a time of 1:51.61. He also made it to finals in the 200 free (1:40.59), placing 7th, the 200 back (1:51.44), where he earned 5th, and the 200 IM (1:51.61), where he secured 6th.
Swan has also had success in long course events. He was a finalist at the 2023 NCSA Summer Championships (LCM), placing 5th in the 400 free (4:01.44) and 8th in the 400 IM (4:37.23).

The Texas A&M men placed 5th at the 2025 SEC Championships, with the University of Texas joining the conference. The previous year, the team finished 4th overall. With another year to continue improving, Swan’s best 500 free time would have ranked 3rd for Texas A&M last season, behind junior Baylor Nelson (4:19.06) and senior Trey Dickey (4:17.94).
Swan will join Clark Coyle, Wyatt Vitiello, and Jake Lloyd at Texas A&M in the fall of 2026 as part of the university’s recruiting class. Vitiello also holds a strong time in the 500 free (4:30.32).
