Multipurpose indoor sports hall aur Olympic size ke swimming pool ki jarurat ko dhyan me rakhte huye, dono projects ke liye Sector 42 Sports Complex me about 1 acres land measure ki gayi hai.
Sports, urban planning and engineering ke officials ko ak team ne haal hi me Panchkula ke Sector-3 sthit Tau Devi Lal Stadium and Patiala sthit National Institute of Sports ka daura kiya aur whan ke infrastructure ko study kiya. Wo multi-purpose hall, sports hostel and city ke first Olympic-size swimming pool ke liye proposal taiyar karenge.
Iske liye aaj UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria ke saath meeting hui. Administrator ne concerned officials ko directions diye ki wo ak detailed proposal taiyar karein aur Khelo India Scheme ke tahat fund raise karne ke liye ise Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports ko bhejein.
Proposed multi-purpose hall me badminton, judo, boxing, wrestling, table tennis, handball, kabaddi, netball, taekwondo and gymnastics sahit various sports disciplines include hongi. Ise international and national events ke liye sabhi required facilities hongi. Administrator ne iss baat par jor diya ki Chandigarh me ak strong sports culture ko build karne se youths me drug abuse rokne me help milegi.
City me players ke saath-saath amateurs ke liye already ak dozen se jada sports facilities available hain.
Inn facilities ki needs ko highlight karne wali reports inn columns me baar-baar publish ki gayi.
Purane Project ko phir se aage badhne ki koshish
2015 me UT Sports Department ne existing Sector 42 complex me ak mini-sports complex set karne ke liye approval lene ki koshish ki thi. Isse pahle Urban Planning Department se permission maangi gayi thi, jisne November 2014 me proposal ko reject kar diya. According to sources, Urban Planning Department ke Chief Architect Office ne iss sports complex me new arena banane ke liye ‘forest area’ ko damage na karne ki condition rakhi. 21 November (2014) ko issue kiye gaye ak letter me Urban Planning Department ne Sports Department ke director ko likha, “Sector 42 ke Sports Complex me koi aur nirman nahi kiya jana chahiye. Forest area, jisme trees, shrubs and nestle rahte hain, ko shahar ke heritage ke roop me preserve kiya jana chahiye.” Department usi land par ak new football and hockey stadiums banane ki planning kar raha tha.
2012 me ak new south complex banane ke plan ko submit kiya gaya tha. 12 acres ke complex me synthetic hockey turf and stadium ke saath-saath ak football ground banane ki maang ki gayi thi. Isme ak common canteen, changing rooms, medical room and systematic parking area banane ka bhi provision tha. Ak gym and special exercise centre ke saath-saath all-weather swimming pool banane ka bhi proposal tha.

Kataria ne Sports Department ke officials ko Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts par eminent sports persons ko job Dene ke liye policy taiyar karne ke bhi directions diye.
