“We finished the weekend with more great performances,” said UNCW Head Coach Jason Memont. “Evan Arsenaultand Meagan Johnson paced our women to a team victory with incredible performances tonight. The men moved up to second this year behind our sprinters and a total team effort. I am very proud of the continued effort as our team got stronger as the meet went on. Tonight we placed seven people in the all-time top ten at UNCW. They put in a lot of hard work this beginning part of the year and it really showed tonight with some gutsy swims. Now it’s back to work so we can be even better in February.”

Johnson won the 200 Breaststroke and posted a NCAA B cut time of 2:15.36. That time also put her second on UNCW’s top-10 times list for the event.

Arsenault, meanwhile, captured the 100 Freestyle in a time of 50 seconds and set a UNCW freshman record. Also setting a freshman record was Charlotte Watts, who clocked in at 2:02.05 in the 200 Butterfly. That time lifted her into third all-time at UNCW

The women’s 400 Freestyle Relay of Faith PilcherMegan LahrViv Louviere and Arsenault closed out the meet with a winning time of 3:25.14.

Rounding out a solid night of swimming for UNCW were all-time top-10 performances from Gianmichael D’Alessandro (200 Breast, 2:03.63, seventh), Shannon Howell (200 Back, 2:00.99, eighth), Pilcher (100 Free, 51.02, eighth) and Kyra Schemmel (1650 Free, 17:10.26, 10th).

The women return to action on Jan. 6 when they visit Campbell. Both teams will host Davidson the following week on Jan. 13 at the Seahawk Natatorium.
