40 young Canadian talents will represent their country on home soil in mid-August at the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Vancouver.
According to a release from Swimming Canada, the roster is made up of swimmers born between the years of 2008 and 2013. The meet itself will bring in more than 300 swimmers across 16 countries to compete over the four-day competition.
Ken McKinnon, the National Development Coach of High Performance for Swimming Canada, said this will be, for many, the first time these athletes represent Canada on an international stage.
“To be able to host the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Canada is incredibly exciting for our athletes and the development of our program… For many of these young swimmers, this will be one of their first experiences representing Canada, being part of a national team environment and competing in a meet at this level which is an important step in their development pathway.” McKinnon said in the report from Swimming Canada. “These athletes have ambitions of one day representing Canada at the senior level. Competing against some of the top junior swimmers in the world will provide them valuable exposure to international racing and the expectations that come with representing their country.”
