Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Butterfly and freestyle specialist Emily Nelson has announced her verbal commitment to stay in-state and swim at Texas Christian University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas Christian University. I’m incredibly grateful to my family and friends for their unwavering support throughout this journey. I would also like to give a big thanks to all of my coaches, especially Coach Andrew and Coach Cameron. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you all. Finally, I am grateful to the entire coaching staff at TCU for giving me this incredible opportunity. Go Frogs!!
A rising senior at Fort Worth Country Day School, Nelson trains year-round with Metroplex Aquatics. She is coming off a strong 2025-26 season that saw her drop about seven seconds in the 200 fly, over a second and a half in the 200 free, nearly a second and a half in the 100 fly, and just under half a second in the 100 free.
Nelson clocked all of her current career bests across various club meets throughout the season. The future Horned Frog swam 1:55.13 in the 200 free at the North Zone Invitational in November, 53.20 in the 100 free and 2:01.75 in the 200 fly at the NT COPS 44th Annual Greater Southwest Classic in January, and 55.56 in the 100 fly at the SPC Championships in February.
Top SCY Times:
- 100 Butterfly: 55.56
- 200 Butterfly: 2:01.75
- 100 Freestyle: 53.20
- 200 Freestyle: 1:55.13
A Division I program, TCU competes in the Big 12 Conference, with the women’s team placing sixth out of 10 teams at this past season’s conference championships. Nelson’s current career best in the 200 fly would have qualified for the ‘B’ final, while cutoffs of 54.91 in the 100 fly and 50.55 and 1:49.33 in the 100 and 200 free remain outside her current best times. Still, with two full seasons of training ahead before her first conference meet, she already projects as a scoring threat.
Nelson joins Natalie Bradac and Brooklyn Poole in committing to TCU’s class of 2031 so far.
