2026 FRENCH ELITE CHAMPIONSHIPS

In what was one of the more highly anticipated races of the 5th day of action at the French Elite Championships, the men’s 100 back will be raced tomorrow after an incident at the beginning of the race occurred, causing some swimmers to swim the full race while others did not.

In a short report from FFN, the incident was not specified, but it is mentioned that the issue, whatever it may be, occurred at the beginning of the race and made it so the race could not be “held under optimal conditions.”

From FFN:

A very rare incident occurred at the start of the 100m backstroke, which could not be held under optimal conditions. Given that some swimmers completed the entire distance while others did not, the competition organizers decided to reschedule this final for the very beginning of the last meet, tomorrow at 6:00 PM.

The championship final will now be raced at the beginning of the finals session, which is also set to include the finals of the men’s 400 free, women’s 50 breast, men’s 50 free, women’s 400 free, and men’s 200 IM.

After the prelims, Jules Andre sits atop the championship final with a narrow lead over French backstroke ace Yohann Ndoye-Brouard (54.13) in 54.11. Seven of the eight finalists managed to swim under 55 seconds, making this sure to be an enticing final for tomorrow evening.

Well, what happened?
Second, at least they get a good break, not like the 2022 WSC Champs. The men’s 50 back had half an hour or so to swim it again. Very poorly done.

Is there no livestream available for this meet? Surely someone can go back and find out what happened if there is one.

If the incident in question could be articulated well enough to get of re-swim then surely it can be articulated well enough to explain what the hell happened.

It only counts if we send Durden over there to fall on his ass on the pool deck celebrating the result of the re-swim.
