Larry Day Breaks Three Individual, Three Relay USMS Records at YMCA Nationals

Larry Day continued his record-breaking ways at the recent YMCA Masters Nationals (SCY) held in Sarasota, Florida, April 16-19.

Day, a member of the Sarasota Sharks Masters, represented the Palmer Ranch YMCA in setting three individual USMS records in the men’s 75-79 age group, doing so in the 50 fly (27.76), 100 fly (1:03.33) and 100 IM (1:07.58).

Day, 75, joined Lee Childs, 77, Rick Walker, 75, and Len Smally, 75, in lowering three USMS relay records for Men 75+.

The Sharks Masters squad set a new record in the 200 free relay, registering a time of 1:52.74 to take down Swim Fort Lauderdale’s previous record of 1:54.40.

The Sharks also set a new mark in the 400 free relay, clocking 4:14.09 to take down the Oregon Masters’ mark of 4:18.57.

In the 200 medley relay, the Sharks put up a time of 2:05.65 to lower Swim Fort Lauderdale’s previous record of 2:11.31 by nearly six seconds.

Great swimming Larry. You also learned to hang glider fly n you did off a hill between barb wire fences on either side. You me and Steve Reeves. Just continue Larry n have fun
