Alex Cohoon Withdraws from Aquatics GB Championships Citing Medical Issue

23-year-old Alex Cohoon took to Instagram to announce his withdrawal from the upcoming Aquatics GB Championships, citing a medical issue that “can’t be pushed through.”

Tough one to take.

I’ve had to withdraw from next weeks @aquatics_gb championships due to medical reasons. Unfortunately picked up something that can’t be pushed through, so the focus now is on getting it fully sorted!
Not an easy thing to accept right now but it’s the right decision long term.

Thank you for all the messages so far, I’ll be back better and stronger 🙌🏻

Cohoon, represented Great Britain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he finished 33rd in the 50 freestyle (22.31), and swam the 3rd leg of Great Britain’s 4×100 freestyle relay in the heats, splitting 47.91.

He is also a British Record holder in the short-course 4 x 50 free relay, which included Ben Proud, Matthew Richards, and Lewis Burras, who combined to set a time of 1:22.52 at the European Championships in 2023.

Last year, Cohoon finished in the top 6 in both the 50 and 100 free at the 2025 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, placing 4th in the 50 free (22.10) and 6th in the 100 free (48.50).

In his most recent outing, Cohoon competed at the 2026 Edinburgh International Swim Meet in March. There, he touched 5th in the 50 free (22.69) and 8th in the 100 free (50.11).

The 2026 edition of the Aquatics GB Championships is set to begin on Tuesday, April 14 and will run through Sunday, April 19 at the London Aquatics Centre.
