2025 EUROPEAN SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS

After a thrilling night two of the 2025 Short Course European Championships, seven different nationalities of athletes leave the Lublin pool with a gold medal around their necks.

Out of a total of seven finals contested tonight, no two winners hailed from the same country. Five countries – Denmark, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, and Estonia – saw their first podium topper of the meet, while Italy and the Netherlands earned their second golds.

Overall, tonight’s results leaves Italy as the frontrunner in the overall medal table, with two golds and two silvers. The Netherlands trail the Mediterranean country closely, with an equal number of golds and one less silver. The Dutch came very close to earning a third gold in the 4×50 medley relay, but they were run down by Italy’s Sara Curtis in the final meters.

Great Britain is perched in third place with one medal of each color. British mid-distance swimmers have set their country up to challenge for #1 tomorrow, with Freya Colbert, Duncan Scott, and Jack McMillan all drawing middle lanes for tomorrow night’s 200 free finals.
