48.5 100 Butterflier Jared Goldstein Announces Commitment To Emory For Fall 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jared Goldstein of Wilmette, Illinois has announced his commitment to swim and study at Emory University, starting in the fall of 2026. He trains year-round with NASA Wildcat Aquatics and attends New Trier High School.

Goldstein made the announcement on Instagram, writing:

I am honored and beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue both my academic and athletic career at Emory University! I am deeply thankful to my parents, coaches, teammates, and friends for their unwavering support throughout this journey. A special thank you to Coach Howell and the rest of the Emory coaching staff for this opportunity to pursue excellence at one of the nation’s premier academic institutions and swim programs. GO EAGLES!

Goldstein’s best event is the 100 butterfly, but he’s a versatile swimmer who excels in the 100 breast, 200 IM, and both backstroke events.

At the FMC Speedo Grand Challenge in November, Goldstein had his best showing of the 2024-25 season. He broke 49 seconds for the first time in the 100 fly, logging 48.54, and also clocked a lifetime best of 47.11 in the 100 free.

His two target meets of the high school season were the IHSA Sectionals and IHSA State Championships. At Sectionals, he touched the wall sixth in the 200 IM (1:57.14) and seventh in the 100 fly (50.98), and also helped New Trier’s medley relay finish fourth with a 22.35 fly split.

At State, Goldstein sliced some time off from Sectionals, but didn’t earn any new personal bests. He secured 10th in the 100 fly (49.43) and 11th in the 200 IM (1:52.65), helped the medley relay take runner-up with a blistering 21.46 fly split, and recorded 46.39 on the 10th-place 400 free relay. His performances marked a slight upgrade from 2024, when he was 10th in the 100 breast and 14th in the 200 IM.

Most of Goldstein’s best times stem from the 2023-24 season. He notched a 1:54.37 in the 200 back at the MAC A3 Performance Invite in November 2023 and produced a 1:51.44 in the 200 IM during February 2024. He also posted 50.79 in the 100 back and 56.03 in the 100 breast in March 2024.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 Butterfly: 48.54
  • 100 Backstroke: 50.79
  • 200 Backstroke: 1:54.37
  • 100 Breaststroke: 56.03
  • 200 IM: 1:51.44

Emory is led by head coach Jon Howell, who has been at the helm of the program since 1998. Last spring, the team claimed its 26th consecutive University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship title and then finished fourth at the NCAA Division III Championships, following three straight national titles.

Goldstein will have an immediate impact for the Eagles at the conference meet, where ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals are scored. Last season, his bests would have slotted him into the ‘A’ final of the 100 fly, ‘B’ finals of the 100 back, 100 breast, and 200 IM, and ‘C’ final of the 200 back.

On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Goldstein would have ranked fifth in the 100 fly, seventh in the 100 breast, eighth in the 200 IM, ninth in the 100 back, and 10th in the 200 back.

Goldstein is joined by Zach Geller, Cole Radnay, Doug Sims, and Johnathan Feiro as the publicized recruits in Emory’s class of 2030.

I remember coming back home to see their dual meet against another team to close out the 2024 calendar year and he pops a 50.0 100 fly without a tech suit and was like “this kids going places” well now he truly is Emory’s got a good one coming.
