Winn Aung Rounding Out 10 & Under Career in Fine Form; Breaks Another NAG Record

On Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the 57th Annual Ukiah Dolphins Soroptomist Swim meet, Winn Aung took a break from the long course season to sneak in one last chance to set some yards National Age Group Records before turning 11 and aging up. On Sunday, Aung, training under Mike Hoppe of the Redding Aqua Ducks, will swim the 100 IM, 100 fly, 50 back, and 50 free, where he’s going off of records as well.

Aung now how National Age Group Records in the 50 meter, 100 meter, 200 meter, and 100 yard freestyles, and has broken at least one national record in each of his last 5 meets.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I have remarked that generally the Asian swimmers or here, an American swimmer with Asian origins, are precocious and swim fast very young. Each year we see a few Japanese or Chinese young swimmers swimming crazy fast times when they are between 12 and 14. I remember a 2.25 in the 200 breast in LCM by a 12-year-old Japanese girl this year. Also all the Chinese girls we have seen in the past 2 years in IM or in distance freestyle races. Is there a physical reason for that?

A 10 year old going 53.1? Unbelievable. What are the stats (height, weight) on this phenom. He did not look big for his age when I saw one local news segment about him.

Wow……………..

Remember, it is SCY not LCM so it’s not unprecedented.

It’s unprecedented because it’s a record in SCY. But you’re right to write again it’s in SCY. Perhaps a few readers who read very quickly think it’s in LCM!

Technically, given that it is a NAG record, UNPRECEDENTED is exactly what it is. 🙂
