NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Division II championships started off with a bang as Patricia Castro Ortega and Matthew Josa set new 200 IM records in the preliminaries for the Royals.

The women of Queens have 4 up and one down through the 50 free as well as their 200 medley back in the championship final.  Drury, looking to repeat their women’s championship from last season, are not too far behind with 2 up and 3 down individually as well as a medley in the championship final.

On the men’s side its a little bit of the same only with the Drury in command posting 3 up and 3 down during the prelims session. Queens sits behind the panthers after qualifying 2 up and 2 down Wednesday morning. After prelims it was found that the 200 Medley relay team of Queens was disqualified which will be a major blow to the Royals title chances. Still waiting on the official call but expect for the Royals distance group to place high to get their team back into the championship race

It is worth noting St. Cloud State finaled 3 divers into the championship final this evening on the 3-meter but with no one returning in the pool it seems those will be the only points for the Blizzards.

Update: Men’s table has been updated to reflect Queens relay DQ.

Listed that Josa swam the fly leg in the morning, when in actuality it was Evante Gibson. Relay card infraction? Hope there is no penalty for any of the swimmers moving forward…

Unfortunately Queens men were DQ’d on the 200med relay. Other then that seem to be lights out so far!

Any word on what the DQ was for? From looking at results, it didn’t appear that anyone jumped.
