Metro Aquatic Club of Miami’s Sofia Jorge has committed to swim at Florida State University as a part of the Seminoles’ class of 2030.
At the Futures Championships in Ocala (LCM) earlier this summer, Jorge finaled in the 50 fly, swimming a new season best in 28.76, finishing 27th overall. Jorge swam another three-season bests in Ocala, including the 50 freestyle (28.15), 100 free (1:00.14), and 100 butterfly (1:04.93).
The Miami native finaled in both of her individual races at the Florida High School Class 4A State Championships. Representing John A Ferguson Sr. High School, Jorge finished 7th in the 100 fly, touching in 56.92, and 16th in the 200 free with her 1:53.32.
One of Jorge’s best showings came in 2022 at the Florida GSC Speedo Holiday Classic, where she set three short-course yards lifetime bests that still stand today. She marked all-time best performances in the 100 free (50.71, 200 free (1:48.88), and 100 fly (54.68).

The Florida State women finished 7th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships. Based on Jorge’s best times, she would have finished 37th in the 200 fly (less than four seconds off of scoring), 46th in the 200 free (just over a second off of scoring position), and 50th in the 100 fly (just over a second and a half away from scoring).
Florida State did not score a single point in any individual sprint freestyle event, but scored 39 points between the two butterfly events at ACCs.
Jorge provides a bit of depth to the sprint freestyles and butterfly events, a clear need for the Seminole women.
The Florida State 2026 recruiting class also includes Emma Thomas, Sofia Jimenez, Lucy Porter, and Samantha Villacis.
