NOVA of Virginia Aquatics is seeking a passionate, energetic, and growth-oriented Full-Time Assistant Coach to join our nationally recognized Age Group program.
Located in Henrico, Virginia — just outside of Richmond — NOVA is a USA Swimming Gold Medal Club and one of the top age group programs in the country, consistently ranked among the nation’s Top 10 age group teams. NOVA serves more than 850 competitive swimmers and owns and operates two premier aquatics facilities featuring three pools and 46 total lanes.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated coach who is passionate about athlete development, technical instruction, and building meaningful relationships within a high-performing team culture.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting daily age group practices with an emphasis on technical development, long-term athlete progression, and positive team culture
- Support the implementation of training plans developed by the lead coach
- Foster an environment that promotes accountability, confidence, sportsmanship, and team unity
- Maintain strong, professional communication with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaching staff
- Attend assigned practices, swim meets, team functions, and staff meetings
- Help support the overall operations of a multi-site aquatics organization
Qualifications
- Previous competitive swimming and/or coaching experience required
- 2–3 years of age group coaching experience preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Positive energy, professionalism, and enthusiasm for working with developing athletes
- Ability to work collaboratively within a large coaching staff
- Current USA Swimming certifications (or ability to obtain prior to employment)
