1. Phelps Turned Down His Emotions after 200 Fly Win
“I knew last night that that 200 free was going to have every bit of emotional and physical energy that I possibly could have… [In the medal ceremony], I guess I kind of felt myself starting to let go, and then I realised I had the 200 free coming up, so I decided to let it go back down and save as much energy as I could.”
2. Dwyer and Phelps Made Sure to Turn Cap Inside Out
“Yeah, I finished my leg, and he [Phelps] tapped me on the shoulder when I was cheering Townley on, and I heard him say, ‘I don’t have a cap’, so I handed him mine. We have different sponsors and he had to wear an all-black cap. So we reversed mine, and he put it on. We’ve seen that guy go through a lot of adversity from winning gold without goggles on, so I think a different cap won’t stop that guy from having a good split.”
3. Sarah Sjostrom Thinks the 100 Free Is C1’s Record to Break
“I think the world record in the 100 freestyle is more for Cate Campbell to beat. I can’t swim that fast, it’s not possible for me.”
4. Lilly King Hasn’t Seen Russia’s Response to Her Comments on Efimova
“I’m assuming it wasn’t that positive.”
5. Refugee Swimmer Yusra Mardini Happy with Her Olympic Experience
“A lot of people are actually sending me a lot of messages about what they are doing for their dreams and saying that I am their idol now. So I’m really happy, I have a real responsibility now.”
