“Best of the Rest” Backstroker Camille Murray (2024) Verbals to Louisville

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Camille Murray, a junior at McKinney North High School in McKinney, Texas, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Louisville for 2024-25.

“Guess who’s headed to the 502!?! Words cannot describe how excited I am to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville! A big thank you to @louisvillesd, @metroplexaquatics, @mcknorthswimdive, and all of the coaches/athletes that I met along the way. I take this next step in life with the joy of knowing that I am dreaming big and betting on myself. I am so thankful to Louisville for seeing me and investing in my dreams. I’m coming to “shake up the world” and we’ll do it together. Thanks again to everyone that has supported me along the way, especially my mother and father whose constant wisdom, support, and guidance has been immeasurable. #GoCards”

Murray is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American with a 4.2 GPA. She is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 back and 100 fly and we named her a “Best of the Rest” backstroker on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ recruits in the high school class of 2024.

As a sophomore at the 2022 Texas UIL 5A Swimming and Diving State Championships, she won the 100 back (53.82) and the 100 fly (53.99). Her times, which were both lifetime bests, were significantly faster than what she went as a freshman at the state meet; in 2021 she was runner-up in the 100 back (55.69) and came in 3rd in the 100 fly (56.32).

In March 2022, Murray competed at College Station Sectionals with her club team, Metroplex Aquatics. She lowered her 100 back time to 53.35 and added more PBs in the 50/100/200 free and 200 back (1:57.74). She was runner-up in the 100 back and came in 3rd in the 200 back, 4th in the 100 fly, and 13th in the 200 fly.

Murray will join Camden Doane (“Honorable Mention”) and Caroline Larsen (“Best of the Rest”) in the Louisville class of 2028. Her best times would have scored in the C finals of the 100/200 back and 100 fly at the 2022 ACC Championships.

Best SCY times:

  • 100 back – 53.35
  • 100 fly – 53.99
  • 200 back – 1:57.74
  • 200 fly – 2:01.07

I’ve often wondered who is writing these anonymous comments about kids…Now that its my daughter, I’m even more intrigued. In this case you happen to be 100% right 🙂 When have you seen Camille swim?
