Two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Meghan Christman from Carmel, Indiana has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame for 2023-24.

Christmas specializes in sprint free, for which she earned a spot in the “Best of the Rest” section on our Way Too Early List of girls recruits from the class of 2023. She is a junior at Carmel High School and has been a big contributor to the girls team’s winning streak over the last two seasons. In 2021, she helped the Greyhounds win their 35th-straight Indiana state title with a runner-up finish in the 50 free (22.75) and a third in the 100 free (50.07). She led off the winning 200 free relay (23.24) and swam the third leg on the first-place 400 free relay (49.91). She swam on both relays with her older sister Madelyn Christman, who is now a freshman at Notre Dame and with whom she will overlap for two years.
Christman does her year-round swimming with Carmel Swim Club. Last spring, she competed at Indy Sectionals and earned PBs in the LCM 50 free (26.50), 100 free (57.07), 200 free (2:06.05), and 100 breast (1:15.16). She improved her 50 time to 26.33 at the 2021 Speedo Summer Championships East in August.
Christman is one of the standout sprinters in the class of 2023. She is already fast enough in the 50 free to score in the B final at ACCs, an event in which UND did not score. She would have been the Irish’s fastest 50 freestyler last season by four-tenths. Christmas also would have scored in the C final of the 100 free. She will be an asset not only in the individual sprint events, but on the relays as well.
