STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook swimming & diving and head coach Mark Anderson have announced senior Sara DiStefano and junior Zoe Rebol as captains for the 2023-24 season on Thursday afternoon.

Each were selected by the coaching staff for their leadership qualities in and out of the pool.

“Each year, our team’s captains are tasked with a lot of responsibilities and each year they do an incredible job leading our team. This year is no different. I am looking forward to watching Zoe and Sara thrive in this role,” said head coach Mark Anderson.

DiStefano, who competes in diving, helped secure a season-high 12 team victories in last year’s dual meet against Rider and also grabbed first place finishes in the 1M and 3M competitions against Central Connecticut State. She also reached the Flight 1B 3M final in the CAA Championships.

DiStefano currently majors in secondary education.

Rebol consistently improved her times in the freestyle events, and her contributions included a win in the 1000-free and setting a new personal best in the 1650-free at the ECAC Championships during her freshman year in 2021-22.

Rebol was a two-year captain at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. She is currently majoring in marine science.

The Seawolves will compete in their first meet of the season, a dual competition at Siena, on Saturday, Oct. 28 beginning at 12:30 p.m.
