Oklahoma Christian Swimmers Shine At Eagle Invitational

EDMOND, Okla. – Oklahoma Christian men’s and women’s swimming each picked up team wins at the Eagle Invitational, where the men competed against seven schools from around the region, and the women competed against three.

Women’s Events

  • Cheyenne Dennison got the event wins started with a win in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing with a time a of 2:05.15. Jadie Brister came in right behind Denison to give OC the top two spots.
  • Vanessa Weatherford continued the momentum, winning the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.84. The Eagles had the top three finishers, with Maddie Davis, and Tammy Greenwood touching the wall just after Weatherford.
  • Oklahoma Christian’s relay teams earneed 74 points by finishing 1st and 2nd in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of Greenwood, Andrea ParadisKara Boemio, and Weatherford taking the top spot, and Ruelas, Uhrig, Davis, and Branstrom took second.
  • Denison secured another 20 points for the Eagles, winning the 400-yard IM in a time of 4:27.39.
  • Laura Byars brought home the 200-yard freestyle wiith a time of 1:52.82.
  • In the 400-yard medley relay, Greenwood, Paradis, Denison, and Weatherford secured another top finish, and Paulina, Uhrig, Boemio, and Byars finished a few seconds behind then.
  • Denison and Byars took the spots in the 500-yard freestyle with times of 4:59.96 and 5:06.01, respectively.
  • Greenwood kept the dominance going with a win in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 55.97.
  • Byars, Greenwood, Davis, and Weatherford also won the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing over a second ahead of Ouachita Baptist.
  • The 100-yard freestyle was won by Vanessa Weatherford with a time of 51.54.
  • Cheyenne Denison kept up her winning ways, taking the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.26.
  • OC’s top relay team wrapped up the first-place finishes with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 3:28.95

Men’s Events

  • Victor Rosado took 1st place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, winning by 18.5 seconds with a time of 9:05.38. The top three finishers were Eagles, with Nathan Bell and Pharis Musleh finishing with times of 9:23.83 and 9:26.62, respectively.
  • Eli Rollen won the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:46.86, finishing 4 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
  • Gabe Knaut won the 50-yard freestyle by almost a second, finishing in a time of 19.67.
  • The team of Rollen, J.T. Amrein, Rosado, and Knaut won the 200-yard Medley Relay, winning by 3 seconds with a time of 1:28.33. This group also won the 400-yard medley relay by 3 seconds with a time of 3:16.54
  • Rollen kept it rolling after the medley relay win by winning 400-yard Individual Medley in a time of 3:57.72. Rollen also won the 100-yard backstroke, completing the event in a time of 48.47.
  • Rosado picked up another win during the meet, taking first in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:40.14. And he won the 500-yard freestyle, finishing the race in 4:23.13.
  • J.T. Amrein picked up another 20 points for the Eagles, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.56.
  • Knaut, Justin Gilliam, Amrein, and Jacob Nixon teamed up to take the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:21.64.
  • Rosado picked up another win for Oklahoma Christian, this time winning the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:46.34.
  • Rollen also picked up another win for OC, taking the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:44.62, almost 5 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
  • Amrein continued the Eagles’ winning ways by winning the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:56.02.
  • The 400-yard freestyle relay was won by the OC team of Rosado, Amrein, Rollen, and Knaut, finishing the race with a time of 2:58.67.

The Eagles will have almost two months off competition before returning to the pool in the new year on January 5th in Winter Park, Florida against Rollins College.
