POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist women’s swim and dive team topped Rider 158-142, Saturday afternoon at McCann Natatorium. The Red Foxes moved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in MAAC meets after defeating the Broncs.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Maddie Healey placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle for the Red Foxes (10:45.04). Healey also placed first in the 500-yard freestyle against Rider (5:16.62).
  • April Avila finished first in two swims against Rider. Avila finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.91) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.65).
  • Caitlyn Riordan finished first in three swims against Rider. Riordan placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.86), the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.04), and the 200-yard IM (2:12.34).
  • The Red Foxes relay team consisting of Gianna PeruginiMargaret HartmanNicole Donnelly, and Rian Dickman placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:41.93).

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist men’s swim and dive team defeated Rider 156-138 at McCann Natatorium, Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes earned their second win of the season, moving to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in MAAC meets.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Oscar Bjering finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle in the win against Rider (9:57.88).
  • Adam Zaremba placed first in the 500-yard freestyle in the win (4:41.97). Bjering finished second behind Zaremba in the 500-yard freestyle (4:46.92).
  • Caden Hardy placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke for the Red Foxes (2:09.53).
  • James Conable placed first in the 200-yard IM against Rider (1:55.72).
  • The Red Foxes relay team consisting of Tim EngelChristopher DauserAdrian Bankowski, and Ethan McCormac placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:06.52). The relay team clinched the win for the Red Foxes against Rider.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider University women’s swimming and diving team was topped in a tight dual meet Saturday, falling at Marist 158-142. The Broncs fall to 0-4 on the season, while the Red Foxes improve to 2-1.

The Bronc women won seven events in the meet.

Lea Opdyke (Ocala, FL/West Port) got the first Rider win of the day finishing one-two in 200-free along with Paola Carlesso (Caracas, Venezuela/The New School Medellin[Colegio Simon Bolivar]), stopping the clock and 1:59.72 and 2:00.59.

Hannah Yemec earned a win in the 200-fly, swimming 2:12.29. Yemec won her second event of the day with a win in the 100-free, stopping the clock at 54.95, and her third in the 100-fly, swimming 58.66.

Karyn Creelman (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) and Maiti O’Connor (South Plainfield, NJ/The Wardlaw-Hartridge School) finished one-two on the 3-meter, scoring 214.73 and 214.05 respectively. O’Connor then won the 1-meter with a score of 244.20.

The Broncs closed out the meet with a win the 400-free relay. Yemec, Carlesso, Mallory Mead (Middle River, MD/Dulaney[Oklahoma Christian]), and Opdyke combined for a time of 3:41.58 to out-touch the Red Foxes.

NOTES & QUOTES
– Megan Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) and Casey McLaughlin (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) swam two-three in the 1,000-free. Smith later placed third in the 200-fly and McLaughlin was third in the 200-IM.
– Chastity Ruatos took second in the 100-back.
– Suriya Pathammavong was second in the 100-breast.
– Sarah Fondacaro (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) swam second in the 50-free and the 200-breast.
– Carlesso was third in the 100-free.
– Mead and Ruatos swam two-three in the 200-back.
– McLaughlin and Smith went two-three in the 500-free.
– Alexa Torres (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) was third in the 100-fly.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider University men’s swimming and diving team fell in a close dual meet at Marist, 156-138, Saturday afternoon. The Broncs fall to 2-2 on the season, while the Red Foxes improve to 2-1.

The Bronc men won seven events in the meet.

Rider got off to a strong start in the 200-medley relay. Christian OvertonBilly Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional), Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy), and Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) out-touched Marist with a time of 1:33.13.

Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) earned Rider’s first individual win, taking the 200-free in 1:43.27. He later won the 50-free in 21.49.

Lane and Overton swam one-two in the 100-back, stopping the clock at 50.95 and 51.10 respectively.

Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 277.50 and the 3-meter with a score of 298.80.

The Broncs swept the 200-back with David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional), Derek Fantano (Morris, CT/Holy Cross), and Overton touching the wall at 1:55.77, 1:56.28, and 1:56.45.

– Ruddy and Matthew Borovik swam two-three in the 100-breast.
