Finnish national record holder Mimosa Jallow just missed own her record in the women’s 100 backstroke on the third evening of the Finnish Short Course Championships.
Jallow, who set a new long course world record at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, took the 100 backstroke in a time of 58.88, which places her just outside of the top 10 in the world rankings. She missed her own national record of 58.64, which she set in 2009.
The men’s 200 freestyle was one of the most exciting races of the evening. Mikka Ruohoniemi held off a fast charging Anton Herrala to take the event in a time of 1:47.14. Herrala finished second in a time of 1:47.73.
Hanna-Maria Seppala, who was a semi-finalist at the 2014 World Short Championships, took the women’s 50 freestyle in a time of 24.80. Nea Norismaa dominated the women’s 200 butterfly posting a 2:12.49 finishing over five seconds ahead of the next competitor.
Christoffer Fredrikson won the men’s 200 backstroke in a time of 1:57.91.
