The final prelims session of the Minnesota Invite kicks off this morning with heats in the men’s and women’s 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly.

This morning’s action will be kickstarted by Cal freshman Teagan O’Dell and Cal junior Keaton Jones, who are the 1st seeds in the men’s and women’s 200 back events.

O’Dell comes into the 200 back seeded four seconds ahead of her Cal teammate Ella Cosgrove, with her seed time of 1:51.83 from late October currently ranking her 10th in the country. She’ll be looking to put herself in a position to earn her 3rd victory of the meet this evening.

Jones, a 2024 Olympic finalist in the 200 back, comes into the event with a seed time of 1:40.40, outside the top ten in the country. He looks well poised to improve on that today after winning the 200 free in 1:33.62 on day two of the meet and improving his season best in the event.

Cal Freshman Mia West leads the field in the women’s 100 free. Claire Weinstein comes into the event seeded 3rd, and fellow Cal Bear Nans Mazellier is the top seed on the men’s side of the event.

The women’s and men’s 200 breast are led by Cal swimmers Silje Slyngstadli and Yamato Okadome, respectively. Cal Bear Lilou Ressencourt is the top seed in the women’s 200 fly, and Minnesota swimmer Jacob Johnson leads the field going into the men’s 200 fly.

Women’s 200 Back

  • NCAA Record: 1:46.82, Claire Curzan (UVA) – 2025
  • 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 1:54.80
  • 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 1:53.31

Top 8 Qualifiers:

  1. Teagan O’Dell (CAL), 1:54.77
  2. Ella Cosgrove (CAL), 1:56.42
  3. Finley Anderson (CAL), 1:56.43
  4. Anya Mostek (HARV), 1:56.83

Teagan O’Dell clocked 1:54.77 to lead a 1-2 of Cal freshman into tonights ‘A’ final, a time three seconds removed from her season-best of 1:51.83 set in late October. That gap may shrink tonight, as O’Dell has challenged her season-bests in the finals of the 200 and 400 IM this meet, both of which she won.

Ella Cosgrove touched the wall in 1:56.42 to advance to 2nd overall in the final. Her time was less than half-a-second off from her personal best, a time of 1:55.99 she set in late October.

Finley Anderson rounded off the top three of Cal women, stopping the clock in 1:56.43, her fastest time in the event so far this season. Anderson out-touched Anya Mostek of Harvard, who also registered her fastest time of the season in the event, 1:56.83.

Jones clocked a time of 1:40.76, finishing around four-tenths of a second behind his season-best and was two-and-a-half seconds from his lifetime best. He is well-positioned to challenge his season-best this evening assuming he can produce a prelims-to-finals improvement similar to the one he produced in his victory in the 200 free earlier this meet.

Puggaard, a freshman at Cal, swam the fastest 200 yard backstroke of his budding college career on his way to earning the 2nd-place seed for finals. He clocked a time of 1:41.58, improving on his previous best of 1:42.38 he swam against Stanford and Arizona State earlier this season.

Sophomore Adriano Arioti earned a 3rd-place seed for Harvard, registering a time of 1:44.42. Two other Cal swimmers, Tommy Roder (1:44.70, 4th) and Humberto Najera (1:45.38, 6th) made it into the top eight.
