UI Women’s Swimming and Diving Grilli Named B1G Diver of the Week

University of Iowa redshirt junior Abby Grilli was named Big Ten Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Grilli earned the accolade after posting a first and third place finish in dual victories over Nebraska and South Dakota State on Nov. 15.

In the 1-meter springboard, Grilli finished with a final score of 285.60 to claim the top spot, while finishing third in the 3-meter event with a score of 310.95. Both scores are NCAA Zone Diving standards, while Grilli’s 3-meter score is a new season best.

The Diver of the Week honor is the first of Grilli’s career. Grilli is the first Hawkeye to earn the Diver of the Week honor since Joelle Christy on Jan. 22, 2013.

Iowa returns to action Dec. 6-8, hosting he Hawkeye Invitational at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Pool.
