Texas Women’s 2016-2017 Dual Schedule Includes All Top 4 2016 Teams

While the Texas Longhorn women only finished 15th at last year’s NCAA championships, they will be swimming a 2016-2017 dual meet schedule that is even tougher than that of their men’s counterparts.

The Longhorns had a relatively young team last season, with no seniors having scoring points individually or on relays at NCAA’s.  They’ll be looking for a quick impact from incoming freshmen Claire Adams and Kaitlin Hardy, who will get a baptism of fire as they’ll swim head-to-head against five of the top seven teams from last year’s NCAA’s, including all top four teams.

The women’s season begins the same as the men’s, with the Orange-White intrasquad in late September, before taking on #7 Indiana and Florida in Indianapolis in October.

Over nine days in early November, the Longhorns will take on a brutal schedule, hosting #9 NC State and #4 Texas A&M in Austin, then traveling to California the following weekend to swim against #3 California and #2 Stanford (where they’ll face a freshman by the name of Katie Ledecky).

After that stretch, the women will rejoin the men for the annual Texas swimming and diving invites.  After the holiday season, Texas will travel to swim against Auburn and then defending champions Georgia while the Austin Pro Series meet will be happening back home in the Longhorns’ home pool.

Finally, the women will host Arizona and swim at TCU before heading into championships season.

“no swimmers scoring points individually or on relays at NCAA’s”. No Senior swimmers?

One certainly can’t say they are afraid to swim the good teams. Maybe they will be the team to beat UGA at home and break their streak?! If TAMU would have swum UGA at home this year, the record would certainly have been over. Wonder why they didn’t swim them this year since UGA went there last year? Hope Texas can get back to top 5 but that looks hard to do with Stanford, Cal, TAMU, and UGA ahead of them.
Good schedule! Good luck Longhorns!
