MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women’s swimming & diving program extended their winning streak to four meets with a victory over Davenport University today at the Klotsche Natatorium. In the first ever meeting between the two schools, Milwaukee came out on top by a score of 151-86.
Grace Hudson recorded possibly the most exciting win of the day, touching the wall 0.07 seconds ahead of her competition in the 500 yard freestyle and winning the event in thrilling fashion on the last length of the pool. Hudson also managed to finish third in the 200 yard freestyle.
In one of the largest victories of the afternoon, Skylar Ruggles won the 200 yard backstroke by more than five seconds, touching the wall in 2:05.02. Hanna DeGrace, however, more than doubled that margin of victory with 10+ second win in the 200 yard breaststroke. DeGrace also was a member of the first-place 200 yard medley relay team.
“It was a great start to our weekend,” head coach Kyle Clements said. “We haven’t seen the 200s of stroke events for a couple of weeks, and it was fun to see how far they’ve come since we last swam them. The fast part of the fall season is almost here and we as a team are starting to round into form.”
Milwaukee dominated the diving boards, sweeping the top three spots at both heights. Julie Rebek took the top spot for the Panthers on both occasions. Rebek’s score of 282.08 on the 1 meter board qualifies her for the NCAA D1 Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, taking place March 11-13.
Winning the 200 yard freestyle was Janelle Schulz, touching the wall in 1:55.33. Schulz also helped the 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay teams to wins.
Nhia Caras joined Schulz on both relay teams, while also picking up her own individual win in the 50 yard freestyle.
Another member of the aforementioned 200 yard freestyle relay team, Noelle Bryan, picked up an individual win in the 100 yard freestyle. Her time of 53.91 was more than two seconds better than the runner-up.
After today’s win, the Panthers have a quick turnaround, getting less than 24 hours of rest before hosting Wheaton College at 1 PM tomorrow afternoon.
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men’s swimming & diving program started their weekend strong with a 147-84 win over the visiting Davenport University Panthers today at the Klotsche Natatorium. Of the thirteen different events, Milwaukee won ten while placing top three in every single one.
“It was a great start to our weekend,” head coach Kyle Clements said. “We haven’t seen the 200s of stroke events for a couple of weeks, and it was fun to see how far they’ve come since we last swam them. The fast part of the fall season is almost here and we as a team are starting to round into form.”
Ben Lorenz had one of his best performances of this young season, winning the 50 yard freestyle and anchoring the Panthers’ first place 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay teams.
Charlie House swam the first leg of Milwaukee’s 200 yard freestyle relay team while also taking first in the 100 and 200 yard freestyles. Jay Jensen took the crown on the distance freestyles, winning both the 500 and 1000 yard races.
Adam St. John and Ben Stitgen put together two solid performances on the boards, taking the top two spots on both heights. St. John won the 1 meter with a score of 300.53 and Stitgen took the 3 meter crown with a 296.78 mark.
St. John’s score on the 1 meter board qualifies him for the NCAA D1 Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, taking place March 11-13.
Jackson Ahrens had a solid meet as he took the top spot in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 47.76 seconds, took second to House in the 200 yard freestyle, and helped the 200 yard freestyle relay team to a victory.
Nicholas Klenner was the first to touch the wall in the 200 yard backstroke, and Nik Wheeler took the crown in the 200 yard butterfly. Wheeler was also a part of the 200 yard medley relay team that took the top spot.
Andrew Jones helped the 200 yard medley relay team to a crown, while taking second in both the 200 yard Individual Medley and the 200 yard breaststroke.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Davenport swimming and diving programs took on Milwaukee on Saturday as they continued their weekend road trip in the Midwest. In the battle of Panthers it was Milwaukee winning 147-84 on the men’s side and 151-86 on the women’s side. Davenport had a pair of first-place finishes for the men and three wins for the women’s team.
Women
- Ella Wagner won two events in the 200 IM (2:08.36) and 200 fly (2:10.07)
- Aubrey Underwood had the other win on the day for DU in the 1,000 free in a time of 10:45.81
- Rebecca Wallis would finish second in the 200 free touching the wall at 1:55.69
- Alicja Pinkowicz would place second in the 200 back with a time of 2:10.04
Men
- Owen Stender got the victory in the 200 breast in a time of 2:09.95
- David Szczygiel picked up the victory in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.60
- Austin Mills placed second in the 50 free in a dash to the wall in 21.60
- Eric Perczak was second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.36
- Alvaro Ruiz de Canas placed second in the 100 free with a time of 48.68
- Marcel Setlak got second place in the 500 free with a time of 4:48.76
