2015 U.S. Summer Nationals

06 Aug 2015 – 10 Aug 2015

Michael Andrew is rapidly becoming a household name in a time when numerous 18-under swimmers are being crowned national champions (2 just today, in fact.) Though he hasn’t quite ascended to that level (yet), he’s been slowly and consistently working his way up the ranks, and has returned to the form we are used to seeing him in: shattering NAG records like it’s his job, which, in a way, it is.

In the past 7 days, we’ve seen him compete at both Jr and Sr Nationals, a feat many top Jr swimmers in the nation and undertook, the trend seeming to be swim through JR’s, full taper and rest for nationals. Michael has dropped a myriad of best times, including 52.5 100 fly, 54.9 100 back, 1:00.6 100 breast, 50.2 100 free, 2:00.5 200 IM, and 22.3 50 free. I think it’s safe to say this kid is on fire.

We got the chance to sit down with him and hear it through his perspective, as well as delve a little deeper into his unprecedented 1:00.6 100 breast, which was nearly a JR world record.
